What is an Air to Water Heat Pump?
An Air to Water Heat Pump works on a similar principle to a refrigerator but in reverse. The outdoor unit contains a fan that draws in air & passes it over a heat exchanger. Even in the cold Donegal winters, there is enough ambient heat in the air to turn a liquid refrigerant into a gas. This gas is then compressed to increase its temperature significantly, which is then used to heat the water for your underfloor heating, radiators & domestic hot water tank.
